The Legal Accountability Project Expands Advisory Board

A few months ago, LAP announced we were launching an Advisory Board comprised of judges, law faculty and deans, legal technology innovators, law clerks, and others to grow our reach. Over the past few months, we've been overwhelmed by the legal industry-wide interest in getting involved with LAP's clerkship transparency movement.

We’re thrilled to introduce nearly a dozen new advisory board members.

Vice Chancellor J. Travis Laster has served as a Vice Chancellor on the Delaware Court of Chancery since 2009.

Judge Stephen Dillard has served on the Georgia Court of Appeals since 2010.

Renee Knake Jefferson is a Professor of Law and award-winning scholar, and holds the Doherty Chair in Legal Ethics at the University of Houston Law Center.

Jade Craig is an assistant professor of law at the University of Mississippi School of Law.

Albert Tawil is the founder and CEO of Lateral Hub, an online job board for large, midsize, and boutique law firms, and Summer Associate hub, a content hub for law students to prepare for BigLaw recruitment.

John Cook is an assistant professor of law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, William H. Bowen School of Law.

Heather Borlase is the founder and CEO of VII & IX, which represents students and employees facing harassment and discrimination, and Hold the Line Consulting, which advises firms on reaching their equity, performance, and compliance goals.

Steve Leben is the Douglas R. Stripp Missouri Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, having previously served 27 years as a Kansas judge.

Yvette Pappoe is an assistant professor of law at the University of the District of Columbia's David A. Clarke School of Law.

Emily Gubin is a senior political economy major at Williams College, where she is a member of the Williams Moot Court team, as well as the founder and president of Social Impact and Legal Advocacy Association. Emily previously served as a LAP intern and then Fellow.

Jose Urteaga is a judicial law clerk at the United States District Court for the Central District of California.

Ramon J. Ryan is an associate at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP in the Supreme Court and Appellate practice group in Washington, D.C.

Maya Markovich serves as a justice tech executive in residence at Village Capital and executive director at Justice Technology Association.

Jackie Gardina is the Dean and Chief Academic Officer at the Santa Barbara and Ventura Colleges of Law.

Amir Wright is a young lawyer who specializes in voting rights, housing accessibility, and community advocacy. He recently wrapped up a clerkship with Chief Judge Algenon L. Marbley at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.

LAP is grateful to all of our Advisory Board members for their willingness to serve in this role as we expand our reach and continue to grow our nationwide clerkship transparency movement.
