LAP is hiring entrepreneurial, innovative, startup-inclined undergraduate, law, and graduate students to work with us full-time in Summer 2025. Interns assist with the following areas: law/policy; nonprofit administration; legal technology; and development. LAP considers interns to be valuable team members: the difficulty of assignments will increase with experience level.

The ideal candidate is a motivated, reliable self-starter. We are a mission-driven startup, so flexibility and the ability to pivot and prioritize assignments are necessary. Strong writing, research, and communication skills, as well as attention to detail, are required.

Part-Time Administrative Assistant @ The Legal Accountability Project

Are you interested in working at an innovative court accountability nonprofit and mission-driven legal technology startup? Work as a part-time Administrative Assistant at The Legal Accountability Project (LAP). 

LAP is dedicated to promoting accountability and transparency in the judiciary and legal field by supporting judicial law clerks and helping them navigate challenges in their careers. The Administrative Assistant will play a vital role in supporting LAP’s mission by ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, facilitating communication, and enhancing organizational efficiency.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual with exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills. The Administrative Assistant will provide critical support to LAP’s leadership, staff, and stakeholders while embodying the organization's commitment to justice and accountability. The Assistant will work directly with LAP’s Founder and President, Aliza Shatzman. 

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative Support

The Administrative Assistant will manage and organize schedules, appointments, and meetings for LAP’s President, as well as maintain accurate records, files, and logs of meetings and activities. The Administrative Assistant will be expected to handle correspondence, including drafting and responding to emails, letters, and other communications to LAP stakeholders on behalf of the nonprofit.

Event and Program Coordination

The Administrative Assistant will also assist in planning, coordinating, and executing events and speaking engagements that align with LAP’s mission. This will entail managing logistics for virtual and in-person events, including scheduling, attendee communication, and preparation of materials. The assistant will track event outcomes and feedback to support improvement efforts.

Communication and Outreach

Administrative Assistant serves as a point of contact for internal and external inquiries, demonstrating professionalism, responsiveness, diligence, and attention to detail in coordinating outreach. Through these efforts, the Assistant will coordinate with partners, including law schools and other organizations, to promote LAP’s initiatives. The Assistant may also support social media and website updates as needed, ensuring timely and accurate dissemination of information.

Support to LAP’s Mission and Initiatives

Assistant will leverage robust research and writing skills to aid with some research projects aimed at improving transparency and accountability in the legal field. This may entail collaborating with other team members to create and distribute materials that promote LAP’s programs and resources. By supporting special projects and initiatives as needed through research, the Assistant ensures alignment with LAP’s strategic goals.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and other administrative tools;

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism;

  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

LAP is hiring entrepreneurial, innovative recent college graduates interested in pursuing law or policy, to work with us part-time and assist with nonprofit administration tasks. Difficulty of administrative assignments will increase with experience and performance level.

We are a high-impact, mission-driven startup, so flexibility and the ability to pivot and prioritize assignments are necessary. The ability to work well under pressure and with quick deadlines on assignments is encouraged. Strong writing, research, and communication skills, as well as attention to detail, are required.
