Judiciary employee survey shows general job happiness, but a reluctance to report workplace misconduct

On March 31, 2025 - the same day a federal bankruptcy judge resigned amid misconduct allegations - the federal judiciary released the results of a 2023 workplace culture assessment. LAP’s President and Founder Aliza Shatzman spoke with CNN about the troubling but not surprising results: federal courts employees overwhelmingly do not trust internal reporting channels and do not report misconduct, because they do not believe their concerns will be impartially, robustly investigated. Employees who used the internal complaint process also reported overwhelming dissatisfaction with the processes and outcomes.
