Judge Newman Faces More Hurdles In Bid To End Suspension

"We must ensure that judges, who make consequential decisions every day affecting litigants' lives, livelihoods and liberty, are fit to serve,” Aliza Shatzman told Law360. The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia dismissed Federal Circuit Judge Pauline Newman’s lawsuit against her colleagues. Newman, who is 97, has been suspended for a year, following her refusal to participate meaningfully in the investigation into her conduct. And now, the Judicial Council is calling for a second' year’s suspension, due to “ongoing misconduct.”
