Democratic lawmakers say Alaska judge's misconduct shows need for reforms (Reuters)

“The judiciary cannot and should not self-police,” Aliza Shatzman told Reuters’ Nate Raymond following former Alaska federal judge Joshua Kindred’s resignation. The fact that law clerks did not feel empowered to report former judge Joshua Kindred’s misconduct, and that it went on for several years before action was taken, is evidence that judiciary internal policies do not work. Outside oversight and legislative reform are urgently necessary.
